Acanthocalycium klimpelianum is a species of cactus in the genus Acanthocalycium, native to Argentina.
Description
Acanthocalycium klimpelianum is a small globose cactus, usually solitary, with a somewhat flattened apex. The stem is green to dark green, reaching up to 8 cm in height and similar in diameter.
The ribs are low and rounded, divided into tubercle-like segments. Areoles are small and bear short, fine radial spines and a few central spines. Spines are thin, straight, and pale, often whitish to light brown.
Flowers are relatively large compared to the plant body, funnel-shaped, typically white to pale pink. The floral tube is covered with small scales bearing bristles and fine spines.
Fruits are small, globose, dry, and dehiscent. Seeds are tiny, dark, and papillose.
