Acanthocalycium spiniflorum is a species of cactus in the genus Acanthocalycium, native to Argentina.

Description

Acanthocalycium spiniflorum is a small to medium-sized cactus, typically solitary, with globose to slightly elongated stems. The epidermis is green to dark green.

The plant has well-defined ribs with slightly rounded margins. Areoles bear numerous radial spines and several stronger central spines. Spines are straight to slightly curved, varying in color from whitish to brownish.

Flowers are funnel-shaped, relatively large, and typically pink to reddish, sometimes with lighter tones. The floral tube is covered with scales bearing spines, hairs, and bristles.

Fruits are spherical, dry, and dehiscent. Seeds are small, dark, and papillose.
