Maihuenia poeppigii is a species of cactus in the genus Maihuenia, native to southern Chile and Argentina.

Description

Maihuenia poeppigii is a low-growing, cushion-forming cactus with compact, densely branched stems. Segments are small, cylindrical, and tightly packed, forming dense mats.

Leaves are persistent, small, and fleshy. Areoles bear short, stiff spines, usually pale in color.

Flowers are relatively large, typically white to pale yellow, emerging near the tips of the stems. Fruits are fleshy and contain relatively large seeds.

Distribution
