Corynopuntia bulbispina subsp. basileocephala is a subspecies of Corynopuntia bulbispina, native to arid regions of Mexico and the southwestern United States.
Description
Corynopuntia bulbispina subsp. basileocephala is a low-growing cactus forming clumps of cylindrical segments. The segments are green to gray-green and densely covered with areoles bearing spines and glochids.
Spines are robust and often thickened at the base. Compared to the typical subspecies, this taxon may show differences in spine density and segment morphology.
Flowers are usually yellowish, appearing at the tips of the segments. Fruits are dry and may persist on the plant.
