Description

Neobuxbaumia consists of massive columnar cacti that are among the tallest in the world (up to 15-20 meters).

  • Stems: Usually solitary and straight, branching only occasionally with age. They have numerous, very narrow ribs.
  • Flowers: Nocturnal or diurnal, small to medium-sized, often pinkish or white. They appear along the ribs near the top.
  • Fruits: Globose, fleshy, and often covered with small scales and spines that fall off when ripe.

Distribution

  • Mexico: Primarily in the states of Puebla, Oaxaca, and Guerrero.
